A Tarnished Heart
This book is dedicated to my first RWA Conference: Washington, D.C. in 2000. That conference changed my life and started me on my writing career. It was in a workshop where I heard Jo Beverly say that a bastard son could not inherit his father’s title. That simple statement got my mind turning in ways I never would have imagined. After numerous rewrites and variations, a simple fact became A Tarnished Heart. I also met my critique partner and dear friend, Lisa Paitz Spindler, at that conference. We’ve clung together through much in our personal lives and writing careers in these last ten years. I believe the next decade will bring the best for us yet. And thank you to my editor, Tera, for giving this story its third home. It’s had a bumpy ride in its path to readers but I believe we have finally found the perfect publisher.
