Financial Management
This chapter seeks to provide an overview of financial management, referred to also as corporate finance or managerial finance (these terms will be used interchangeably hereafter), which is concerned with issues of the kind raised above. It is divided into five sections. The first delineates the scope of financial management; the second traces the evolution of corporate finance; the third dwells on the goals of financial management; the fourth focuses on the basic considerations of risk and return; and finally the fifth describes how the responsibilities for financial management are shared in a business firm.
