ЖИЛИЩА ПЕНДЖИКЕНТ

Задача данной работы обобщить результаты исследования жилищ на городище древнего Пенджикента. Это самый изученный город эпохи раннего средневековья на территории Средней Азии и, может быть, всего Среднего Востока. За сорок с лишним лет раскопано около половины территории города (рис. 1 и рис. 24, вкл.). Здесь открыты обширные участки жилой застройки. Появилась редкая в археологической практике возможность рас- сматривать руины древнего города как материальное отражение социальной структуры. В таком направлении ведется с первых лет раскопок изучение пенджикентского жилища. В этой работе предпринимается попытка рассмотреть всю совокупность открытых в Пенджикенте жилищ с палеосоциологических позиций, не задаваясь целью специально исследовать историко-архитектурный аспект проблемы.
