Architectural agents

Everywhere I worked on this book I benefited enormously from the knowledge and generosity of those who lived there. Most providentially at home, as has been the case for nearly a quarter of a century, my partner, Professor Kalman Bland, read and reread what I wrote, always with remarkable equanimity and new insight. Abroad, colleagues and friends shaped my experiences of the local and, consequently, my thoughts on it. This is particularly true of Jerusalem. В выпускной квалификационной работе проанализированы организационная структура предприятия, политика в области управления персоналом; выявлены проблемы управления. Рассмотрены понятия и сущность, принципы и методы управления персоналом на предприятии, а также основные проблемы в управлении персоналом. Разработаны мероприятия, направленные на совершенствование системы управления персоналом, представлена оценка эффективности мероприятий. Практическая значимость исследования заключается в том, что выявленные проблемы и разработанные мероприятия могут быть использованы в деятельности малых предприятий для повышения эффективности действующей системы управления персоналом в организации.

Race and modern architecture

In the fall of 2015, the editors of this book organized an interdisciplinary research group, the Race and Modern Architecture Project (R+MAP), to begin investigating the ways that race has been integral in shaping modern architectural discourse from the Enlightenment to the present. To begin our study, we assembled a bibliography of primary and secondary readings on general race theory, the history of slavery and colonialism in the West, primary texts in architecture that exemplified those themes, and publications from contemporary scholars pioneering new readings and interpretations. This initial bibliography provided a common foundation and set of references for the work of the research group. After a call for papers, we convened a symposium in the spring of 2016 at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation that opened with the roundtable “Critical Dialogues on Race and Modern Architecture” before turning to a series of paper presentations. These presentations served as the foundations for the chapters of this book. We believe that the resulting work will bring much needed visibility and momentum to the study of race in architecture, as well as provide architectural historians and allied scholars with the critical tools necessary to articulate the latent cultural underpinnings of our discipline.

Across the world, the housing crisis is escalating. Mass migration to cities has led to rapid urbanisation on an unprecedented scale, while the withdrawal of public funding from social housing provision in Western countries, and widening income inequality, have further compounded the situation. In prosperous US and European cities, middle- and low-income residents are being pushed out of housing markets increasingly dominated by luxury investors.
